  10.        The Silicon Graphics Video Library is a device independent
  11.        library for video devices on Silicon Graphics workstations
  12.        equipped with video hardware.  VL EOE is the first release
  13.        of the execution environment and supports the built in video
  14.        in Indy systems, as well as Galileo Video on Indigo2, Power
  15.        Indigo2, and Indigo, and Indy Video on Indy.  Future
  16.        releases will support additional video devices.
  17.  
  18.        The execution environment for video includes the video
  19.        daemon, a control panel, _v_i_d_e_o_p_a_n_e_l, that can be launched
  20.        from the Icon Catalog, as well as _v_i_d_e_o_i_n, an application
  21.        that displays video in a window on the screen.  On hardware
  22.        options that support video output capabilities, the
  23.        environment also includes _v_i_d_e_o_o_u_t, an application that
  24.        allows you to select a windowed area of the screen or the
  25.        whole screen to send to video output connectors.  There are
  26.        also two command line applications, _v_i_d_t_o_m_e_m and _m_e_m_t_o_v_i_d
  27.        that support frame in from video and frame out to video.

  29.        Guide.

  31.        The Video Library Execution Environment subsystem in IRIS
  32.        Digital Media Execution Environment 6.4 is the same as the
  33.        5.3 version.

  36.        11.1  _C_o_n_f_i_g_u_r_a_t_i_o_n__F_i_l_e_s

  38.        The video devices have certain configuration values. There
  39.        are factory defaults for each device stored in :
  40.        /usr/etc/video/videod.defaults._d_e_v_i_c_e, where _d_e_v_i_c_e is ev1
  41.        for Galileo Video and Indy Video, and vino for Indy VINO
  42.        (Video In No Out).  Using _v_i_d_e_o_p_a_n_e_l you can restore these,
  43.        as well as saving and restoring a local configuration in
  44.        /usr/etc/video/videod.defaults.

  48.           +o Not all applications follow default input.  When using
  49.             videopanel to set the default input, you may need to
  50.             quit and restart the application if it is already
  51.             running.

  53.           +o There is no concept of a default device in the current
  54.             video environment.  When you switch devices in the
  55.             video control panel, there is no event sent to the
  56.             application. It is up to the application to present a
  57.             way to switch devices.  This is only an issue for
  58.             systems with multiple boards in them.

  89.           +o When viewing video from an external source, if you fast
  90.             forward or rewind the source, the _v_i_d_e_o_i_n application
  91.             can loose synchronization.  Restart the application to
  92.             regain a clean video signal.

  94.           +o If yo have an IndyCam and have not installed
  95.             _v_i_n_o._s_w._e_o_e or if you do not have the IndyCam plugged
  96.             in when you boot your system, the hardware inventory
  97.             command _h_i_n_v reports:
  98.             Vino video: unit 0, revision 0, Indycam not connected.
  99.             Be sure to plug the IndyCam in before you start up your
  100.             system.  Once you install _v_i_n_o._s_w._e_o_e.  and reboot,
  101.             your system will report correctly:
  102.             Vino video: unit 0, revision 0, Indycam connected.

  104.           +o If the input video stream is frozen (by using _F_r_e_e_z_e on
  105.             the _v_i_d_e_o_p_a_n_e_l) and the window is obscured and then
  106.             uncovered, the video frame is not redrawn correctly.
  107.             Unfreeze the video to have it redrawn.

  109.        11.6  _G_a_l_i_l_e_o__V_i_d_e_o__a_n_d__I_n_d_y__V_i_d_e_o__P_r_o_b_l_e_m_s__a_n_d__W_o_r_k_a_r_o_u_n_d_s

  111.           +o If you resize the _v_i_d_e_o_i_n application to it's minimum
  112.             size, 96 x 72, you may see garbage lines on the bottom
  113.             and the right edge of the image.

  115.           +o When using _v_i_d_t_o_m_e_m to capture a burst of consecutive
  116.             frames, you can only capture up to 4 at once.  To
  117.             capture more frames call _v_i_d_t_o_m_e_m repeatedly.

  120.             the _v_i_d_e_o_i_n window using PAL format.
